This track has been featured in HBO’s original series, How to Make it in America and has been getting some well-deserved attention from an artist who’s own career mirrors the plot line of the story. In the show two friends hustle for a crack at success selling clothes, while Aloe Blacc has been working towards getting some love for his smooth soul music like the show’s theme. “I Need a Dollar” introduces each episode and it’s heavy piano and horn chops paint the setting of a dreary and scrappy New York quite well.
